‘Well done boys!’ Golden Eaglets drink the tears of Ghanaian fans after WAFU victory.
On Friday, June 24, 2022 Nigeria’s under 17 men’s national football team known as the Golden Eaglets were victorious against the Junior Etalons of Burkina Faso.
The Golden Eaglets recorded a 2-1 victory against Burkina Faso in the final of the 2022 West African Football Union (WAFU) under 17 tournament.
At the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana, two goals from Abubakar Abdullahi was enough to give the Golden Eaglets victory.
The Golden Eaglets were crowned champions and have received praise Nigerians for their achievement.

Super Eagles Technical adviser Austin Eguavoen took to social media to praise the Golden Eaglets.
Golden Eaglets celebrate WAFU U-17 triumph with Ghanaian Kente dress
In a message on his official Twitter account, Eguavoen said, “Congratulations are in order to the Golden Eaglets.
“Led by Nduka Ugbade. Massive well done, to the entire Nigeria U17 players and backroom staff! WAFU B Champions.”
Minister for Youth and Sports Sunday Dare also praised the team for winning the regional competition.

The Golden Eaglets celebrated the triumph wearing a traditional Ghanaian Kente dress.
The players, coaches and members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are now expected to return to the country with the trophy.
The Golden Eaglets have now secured a place at the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) expected to take place in Algeria next year.
