President Bola Tinubu has restructured some of the Federal Ministries in the country.

President Bola Tinubu has restructured some of the Federal Ministries in the country.

In line with the Innovative Governance promised by the President, the following Ministries have been proposed:

  1. Ministry of Works and Housing : Ministry of Works will focus on Federal roads and Highways while the Ministry of Housing will be restructured and heavily financed to jump-start economic growth.
  2. Ministry of Transportation : This Ministry will be divided into two sub-categories which will include;
    i. Ministry of Railways & Rail Transport
    ii. Ministry of Waterways & Marine Transportation.
    The latter will be in charge of Ports and Navigable Rivers as Road Transport will be moved under the Ministry of Works.
  3. Ministry of Education : This Ministry will also be sub-divided into two categories which will include;
    i. Ministry of Basic & Special Education
    ii. Ministry of Tertiary and Advanced Education
  4. Ministry of Budgeting and National Planning : The Ministry of Budgeting will be merged with the Ministry of Finance as the Ministry of National Planning will be moved to the Presidency or under a new Ministry of Statistics.
  5. Ministry of Commerce and Industry : The Ministry of Commerce will be moved to the Ministry of Trade and Investment as the Ministry of Industry will be moved to a new Ministry of Employment and Industry.
  6. Ministry of Petroleum Resources : This ministry will be restructured for solid petroleum, that is Bitumen and Tar Sand, as it will be given more resources and attention.
  7. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development : This Ministry has been renamed Ministry of Agriculture as Rural Development will be moved into a new ministry, which is the Ministry of Human Development.
  8. Ministry of Interiors : This Ministry will be restructured to handle all Identity, Birth and Death Registration, as well as Immigration Issues. The National Population Commission (NPC) will be moved into a new Ministry of Statistics and involved only with Census.
  9. Ministry of Labour and Productivity : The Ministry has now been renamed as Ministry of Employment & Industry.
  10. Ministry of Information : The Ministry has now been renamed Ministry of Information and National Orientations.
  11. Ministry of Solid Minerals Development : Now renamed Ministry of Solid Minerals & Mines.
    Mines will be moved from the old Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
  12. Ministry of Mines and Steel Development : Since Mines has been moved to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, the Ministry has now been renamed as Ministry of Iron and Steel.
  13. Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development : The Social Development is now been moved to a new Ministry of Human Development.
