For being at her duty post during the unscheduled inspection visit to her school by Akwa Ibom State governor, Umo Eno, the headmistress of Christ The King Primary School (CKPS) Uyo, was yesterday rewarded with automatic promotion.
Mrs Eme Joseph Bassey, LEADERSHIP Weekend learnt, was found discharging her duty of coordinating the pupils and supervising the teachers during the unannounced visit by the governor who stopped by to ascertain areas of intervention in the school.
According to Eno, the headteacher demonstrated the true spirit of hard work, dedication and selfless service in the discharge of her duties, and promised to carry out a turn-around maintenance of teaching and learning facilities in the school.
While interacting with the pupils, the governor charged them to exhibit high sense of dedication to studies, advising that it is by hard work that excellence could be attained.
He tasked the school management and teachers to demonstrate mentorship and instill high moral discipline among the pupils.
Warning against lackadaisical attitude to government work by some unpatriotic civil servants, Eno said his administration would not tolerate any form of casual disposition to duties, and vowed to punish erring officials.
