One of the biggest and perhaps the most celebrated youth event in the country geared towards youth empowerment took place last Sunday at Balmoral Hall in Ikeja, Lagos.

The annual event which celebrates exceptional youths who have defied all obstacles to exile in different chosen fields is the brainchild of Ibrahim Adeduntan the publisher of Young Achievers Magazine.

Guest Speaker at the occasion Babatunde Fowler the chairman, Lagos Internal Revenue Service while speaking on the theme of the event YOUR TALENT IS NOT ENOUGH urges youths and all present to broaden their horizon by continually seeking knowledge to develop themselves.

Speaking with our reporter after the event, Adeduntan said the 5th edition of Young Achievers Nigeria Awards is all about celebrating 50 “Ideapreneurs in Nigeria.” According to Adeduntan, there is a constant need to appreciate deserving youths in Nigeria.

“We know that there are lots of challenges in Nigeria and it is not easy doing business in Nigeria. We are just out to encourage young entrepreneurs in Nigeria. I have always believed in the significance of encouraging our youths and so we deem it fit to celebrate young achievers in Nigeria,” he said.

Some of the awardees at the occasion include; the youngest PhD holder in Africa who currently lectures at the University of Lagos Oluwadara Olaoluwa, Speaker Ogun State House of Assembly Hon. Suraj Adekunmbi, actress Liz Anjorin who bagged the movie personality of the year award, other recipients include; Aishat Farooq, best graduating student of the year, Life changing business of the year award was received by Golden Chance Lotto/Bradford Group, Reliable Security Company of the year award was received by Technocrime Security, Outstanding Hotel of the year award was received by The General Manager of Ibis Lagos, Ikeja, Performing Hon. Member of the year award was received by Hon. Abdulbaq Ladi Balogun, Life Changing product of the year award went to Trevo Africa, Outstanding Public Servant of the year award was received Nike Adekanbi, Enterprising Man of the year award was received by Mr. Class, best youth I.C.T Centre of the year award was received by Hon. Adijat Motunrayo Oladapo Adeleye, Outstanding Nite Club of the year award was received by Quilox Nite Club, Freight forwarding Personality of the year award by Mr. Great Mcdede, Promising Politician Award of the year was received by Hon. Tunde Ojo, Outstanding Man of the Year Award (AUTOMOBILE) was received by Taiwo Shittu, Event Support Company of the year award was received by Mammy Jay Productions, Corporate Communciations Manager of the year (BANKING) was received by Rasheed Bolarinwa of Skye Bank, Media Support Company of the year award was received by Labash Cocktails, Performing Local Government Chairman of the year award was received by Hon. Ayodele, Outstanding State Constituency of the year award was received by Hon.
